Pierre Dumas 259 Posted October 7, 2017 Very interesting scene! Painting effect I do not recognize, but, nevertheless it seems very successfully used! I wonder how it looked in color?! Cheers! PDE Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 8, 2017 Experimentation pays off in this case. The photo straddles the line between reality and abstraction allowing the viewer to participate in the creative act. It's an interesting approach to pursue and I think worthy of further exploration. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted October 8, 2017 Pierre, take my word: it looks better in monochrome. Thanks so much. Cheers! Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted October 8, 2017 Jack, I'm glad you liked the experiment. I used a noise reduction tool multiple times so that most of the detail disappeared. Then I added sharpening. In about 2 weeks I hope to have a large, fresh batch of images to tinker with, and to go on the expedition you suggested. Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted October 10, 2017 Very creative technique and complex post processing. It remind me of the 1960s experimentation with the then available tools and technology, when photographers were willing to stretch whatever available to them to go beyond the trite. IMHO this is one step ahead of any new trends that I am aware of. Congratulations for stretching your creativity so far. DG Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted October 11, 2017 DG, I am blown away by your remarks. I never considered myself a trendsetter, and one image does not a trend make. But, I hope to continue tinkering with the techniques I used in connection with this image. - - my best, michael Link to comment
