Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 7, 2017 This is one of those pictures that seems so ordinary that it's easy to pass it by without comment. But there's something strangely compelling about this modest house with its picket fence and oddly trimmed hedge. It's like someone you meet at a party who at first seems unremarkable but whose conversation hints at a lively mind and subtly attractive personality, a person you'd like to get to know. The car in the foreground plays an important role, I think, giving the picture almost a serendipitous quality like something encountered unexpectedly but fortuitously. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted October 8, 2017 Holger, Jack, many thanks for your comments and appreciation. @Jack: well described - it's this "don't judge a book by its cover"-thing. At first I found the car annoying (I regularly encounter cars that are about to spoil my photos - they're a plague :-)) - but then I tried to make a virtue out of necessity and integrate it - so, many thanks for pointing this out. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 12, 2017 Viewing these two pictures again in your featured folder, it struck me what a nice pair they make. Somehow they took me back to my early days (in the 60's and 70's) when life was something to be explored and I was always open to discovery and fresh interpretations. Thanks for that, too.
