Rather moody for this type of shot. That interests me as much as the actual content of the shot. Wet runways do things to our souls. --Lannie

Lannie, Holger.......Thanks for the comments. Although PN is far from perfect or even what I hoped for, it's now at least usable for me. Navigation has improved compared to the clunky Slow Boat to China that it was. The only thing that worries me is the number of really good photographers/friends who have abandoned PN and are no longer around. The stimulating feedback as well as the quality of the photography far exceeded other sites in the past. It's going to take a long time to get back to that level - if it's possible at all. At least they've gotten me back in the game. We'll see how it works out.

Jack, good to see your instantly recognisable style back . Enjoying these photographs very much.

The quirky framing instantly adds atmosphere to the image. This resulted in my thinking that the plane was a live creature receiving nourishment from multiple umbilical cords. Jack, you've presented a highly creative airport scene that draws not only the eye but, better still, the mind. And it's not just the thinking mind; it's the feeling one, too. - - michael

Agree that the moody color is very effective. Initially, I had a little trouble parsing things, such as which umbilicus went where, and the "missing" wing, but after a few minutes, it all fell into place.

Gosh, I really didn't even notice the amputated wing! I'll bet my subconscious mind noticed it, though. Maybe that's why it's moody to me. --Lannie

My dear friend, finally I can open your page till now wasn't possible to me I do not why,I was so upset about what this new format and how slow I can manage, open pages compare with old one.I think for few month my activity was weak and when try to see what my friends uploaded was almost impossible.I see now some improvements but still to be away from how easy we connect each other before, and as you say too the quality of photos can be seen now is to me disappointing. The only thing I like and is better than before is the way photos are seen in large view, look very good.

About this photo here when I see it my mind goes to travel and feeling I have when I am in an airport ready for flight.

I hope we can be lot of us as we know from long time again in same formation as we know. All my best.

The orange cables immediately draw my attention. My feelings are similar to what Michael Linder wrote. The plane along with all the orange pipes look like an eviscerated beast, still alive. The frames of the window provides distance and some security to the viewer from the viscous beast. You have changed the way I see this common scene at airports.

Hi there Jack - nice to see you back.....I've not been online a lot - but I saw your comment about how the site is faster so I hope you are right. I almost am thinking that the framing is from inside the Airport or the shot is 'framed' from behind another plane??? no matter - the shot works well. I hope you've been well and the 'climate' in every sense of the word is 'good' where you are living. 'still in Canada'. :) Gail

Gail. Thanks again. This site improves albeit sluggishly. It's always two steps forward, one step back. There are still a lot of things here - the way the site is laid out and how it functions - that leave me shaking my head. Of course the greatest loss was the large number of talented photographers who abandoned PN and set off for places unknown. Some that remain don't even post many pictures anymore. The management hasn't yet fully grasped that it's the membership here that is the indispensable ingredient and it's the interaction between photographers that is the life-blood of PN. I'm not a big fan of "likes" or "admires". I want to exchange views with real people not pile up scores. Things are not what they used to be but at least there's a patch of blue sky on the far horizon.
