Supriyo 6,008 Posted June 24, 2017 What I like about this photo (apart from texture) are the rivets. There is little pattern in their positions, and their asymmetry within an otherwise symmetric composition draws interest to the central hinge. I love door handles and hinges and we have quite a few of them in historic missions around CA. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted July 14, 2017 I like how the slight vignetting rounds the corners somewhat, so that the entire image's geometry is not limited to straight lines and angle. (Supriyo's comment about the rivets prompted me to think of this.) Moreover, I am confident that the original color version would not be as effective in capturing the variety of grain in the wood. PapaTango 4,911 Posted July 14, 2017 Indeed. In the color version the door is semi-covered with a wash of very weathered, extremely thin and flaky red paint. Removing the chroma and adjusting the levels, curves, and exposure in PS CC rendered this (along with a few other adjustment tweaks). The original is mildly interesting--it has no impact whatsoever... The lens is a 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro (OS) HSM | C, slung on a Nikon D7100. Sigma lenses (I have 3) amaze me with their performance. This one has been 'tweaked' a bit with the USB programming hub. Link to comment
raoul_butler 0 Posted October 3, 2020 Simple graphic would look brilliant as a very large print. Link to comment
