guillelobera 0 Posted May 25, 2017 Alberto Schommer (9 August 1928 – 10 September 2015) wanted to be a painter, but found in the photograph the medium with which to express his artistic concerns. An exhibition now runs in Donostia-San Sebastián a trajectory of more than half a century in which it explored all kinds of aesthetic territories.Arteagunea, the exhibition hall that the Kutxa has in the contemporary culture center Tabakalera, houses this exhibition, "Alberto Schommer. Towards modernity".Rome is a work of his series Urban Landscape: strong contrasts of blacks, and granulates of elaborate elaboration, produce visions of urban spaces loaded with strong black accents, and some romantic conception desolated of the landscape and the figure. 2016-06-12. Supriyo 6,008 Posted May 26, 2017 Guillermo,This is almost like a dyptich, where the appearance of the statue is most unexpected. On one hand, the photographer seems to be spying on the statue through the slit in the door, but the man on the left defies that feeling. His gaze is open and bold. Is he looking at the statue, or something else? Is the man even at the same plane as the statue? The photo doesn't answer these questions, but it does set the viewer on the path to find them on his own. Link to comment
guillelobera 0 Posted May 26, 2017 Thanks Supriyo...the viewer is not on the same plane as the statue. Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted May 26, 2017 I like the concept. The two however do not seem to mate so well, possibly because of the different planes. And space between them. I guess it does take your explanation to get the synthesis. Again, I am attracted to the idea behind the image, not so much the execution. I wish you well as always. GS Link to comment
