Heywood's Meadow, Walden

On a light overcast day, I was walking around Walden Pond searching

out some fall color shots. Given the day's relatively muted

palette, I was trying some quieter stuff than the sometimes-

bombastic fall color stuff (which I'd like to have more of in my

portfolio, too!). Actually got a compliment from the wife on this,

and now am seeking some other opinions. All comments welcome, of

course.

Fantastic, subtle colors, and I think the bare tree in the foreground gives the photo structure.

I like this one. The colours are superb.

The sort of picture I would attempt! The blues and reds really compliment, and the splash of yellow contributes to the composition at the top of the frame. However I would have chosen less DOF so that the bush and two tree trunks stood out more from a blurred bgrd. Also the bright areas bottom left & right really bother me and I wish they weren't there. Nevertheless a scene of serenity, a pleasing abstract of nature - and one that I like.

This photo is really nice! I do watercolors and 'plan' for this type of composition and color result, though its easier said than done. Wouldn't change anything, including the DOF... which adds good texture. A+
