excellent documentary. They look so young to be "fishermen's wives".

Hi Greg and Verena,It does take us away from the image we have of the Old Fisherman with the wind carved features;the new generation of fishermen are young businessmen in an industry which is nowadays very profitable for the boat/permit holders.Pickup trucks is what they drive to the wharf but Corvettes,Vipers and Harleys is what they drive for fun.....a far cry from what my grandfather-fisherman could afford as he never had a car.Salutations-Laurent

Thanks for the information- we are shocked!! Here we were feeling sorry for these poor guys who have to struggle with such a limited time to catch their limit. Now we can complain more justifiably at the price of fish at the store :)

Greg and Verena, Don't be too harsh;this is true for the boat owners,but the crew members are just salaried and do struggle for a living as this is seasonal employment and alternative work is not that available here especially during our hard winters=unemployment status.Salutations-Laurent
