frigo 4,155 Posted April 24, 2017 Hi Michael, This ballerina is an annual visitor to help rid the harbour of its ice sheet in time for the start of the fishing season. The ''Sipu Muin'' is almost 100 ft long, weighs 70 tons and can travel at 50 knots in straight line;it creates a wave under the ice cap to break it up in the zillions pieces which then find their way to the open sea with the tide/wind movement.Glad you like this shot from the bridge apron.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment

frigo 4,155 Posted May 12, 2017 Greg and Verena, It is a repeat story year after year and I/people here always rush out to see the beast at work;the amazing thing about this machine is its agility and ability to turn around on a dime....hence the ballerina tag.Glad you like!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
