gregverena 343 Posted March 21, 2017 Mike, yes, it's much easier to just put these kids together with off the shelf parts. Really, this is what "disbudding" looks like. When they are a few days old, we use a disbudding iron to cauterize the roots of the horns so they will not develop. This hurts them for a few seconds, then it's over and they are safe for the rest of their lives. Goats with horns can be dangerous to each other as well as to people around them, particularly children, by accident or on purpose. The black circles, which are basically scabs, will fall off in about 10 days, hair will grow over the spot and their heads will remain smooth . Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted March 26, 2017 Life as it is round the farm with new life that is so good to be seen.I like the moment caught and for sure title is excellent,good info about horn.Is not easy at all to have a farm even a small one,I know what does this means and lot of work to be done every period of the year,but you are really close to nature and this is so good.
