gregverena 339 Posted March 9, 2017 A pig fly? Is that something like a black fly? or May Fly? Some Alabama variety for sure......don't have 'em here :) must be hard to swat! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted March 10, 2017 Ha! Maybe I took a small liberty in usage, but from Wikipedia: "The phrase "when pigs fly" is an adynaton—a figure of speech so hyperbolic that it describes an impossibility. The implication of such a phrase is that the circumstances in question (the adynaton, and the circumstances to which the adynaton is being applied) will never occur." Mike Link to comment
gregverena 339 Posted March 10, 2017 Mike- sorry- my poor attempt at being funny- of course I know what you meant-but, I did learn a new word- adynaton.. now have to find a way to use it in daily discourse.... Link to comment
