Yesterday I decided to experiment a bit with Clipping Masks. I'm not

quite sure how to use them properly - this may not even be correct,

but along with a few textures this end result seemed pleasing to the

eye. Your thoughts are appreciated, :) Gail

Well done Gail, I think the layering sets a uniqueness about the photographer that sets them apart from the rest of the pack.

However you will get some push back, artist who are purest feel this may be blasphemy in the photography world. To that I say do your own thing, create your own style, the only limit you have is in your head.

thanks so much for your input Tony.  I am at the point where it does not matter do me if others 'bash' this type of image. Sure it is not purest but it is a Digital Alteration.  Many take stock photos and put an image together and perhaps not one element is one of their own.......I like to try to mostly use my own images except for a Texture or two. If I am posting something that is not Pornographic, or insulting to any particular Race, Majority or Minority - or is not for Children's Eyes.......then I figure I have done OK. If it makes me smile and feel good inside......that is what counts the most......love your insight always Tony.

A picture that is both flamboyant and subtle at the same time - a neat trick. Nice to see you back again, Gail. I've really missed your artistic talents and always interesting commentary. As for the purity of the process - who cares. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and this is a sweet treat. You could certainly teach me a trick or two.

It's almost nice to be away to 'hear' your lovely comments Jack!!  Actually I got a touch of that nasty Norovirus that has been going around and it basically knocked the stuffing out of me.......I was uncomfortable.......no as bad symptoms as some get but the aches, pains and total lack of energy and drive seemed to be the worst.  Hopefully I am on the mend!!  I figure you can only Post so many shots of FLIES and ORDINARY FLOWERS.........there are SO MANY OUT THERE !!!!!! not meaning to take away from anyone's Photography - I am amazed by the number of Photographers today.  I just love learning new things and seeing what the final result will be. The Poppy is still there.....this Winter has been cold, lots of snow but we have lost some..........but we are told more is coming. Thanks so much Jack for stopping by and putting a smile on my face. :) Gail

Gail, Your work has been among my favorites for a long time, and I've always said art is subjective, so do what you like and know that there are many people who enjoy what you present and this image is no exception. Well done my friend.

Best Always, Holger

Hi Gail. Beautifully composed and artistic. The textured effect works so well and is something I would like to do more of. I will come back for inspiration! Best wishes. Sarah.
