This picture has been taken by my 10 year old granddaughter. On a school outing in

a jungle area, she borrowed her teacher’s mobile phone to record this view that

fascinated her. Four years back when she was six, she pointed at a view which she

thought would make a nice picture. I clicked and posted it here as ‘Haloween

Pumpkins’ at in the folder 'Street - On And Around' of my portfolio

She urged me to upload it on the web. I wonder if I can say to her ‘welcome to the

world of photography’.

You can indeed welcome her to the world of photography--it's a wonderful shot! It was beautifully seen, and beautifully carried out. Seeing is the most difficult part of photography, and it looks like she really has that part figured out.

I read your comments to the photographer, my granddaughter. If I had said it to her, she might have dismissed it as a pep talk. Knowing these words are from a notable photographer, these had a very motivating impact on her. Thank you.

I have used your comment to strengthen my recommendation to her father to give her a point and shoot camera. And I have promised her that if she learns to handle this camera well, by her next birthday I shall present her a DSLR. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for selecting this photo as Photo of the Day. Rather than an honour, it is an elation because it is my granddaughter’s work.  In her very first post and with a phone camera, she has far excelled me to have received this honour.

I have read to her your comment in your email to me, “This is a distinct honour as Photo.net gets thousands of uploads a day by notable photographers from all over the world! “ and told her that she has received this honour which her grandfather hasn’t so far.  I hope that it motivates her enough to one day join the category of people you call notable photographers.

Thank you
