Landrum Kelly 64 Posted May 28, 2017 I took this on a scouting expedition just outside Linville Gorge on Forest Service Rd. 210, etc on January 4., 2017. I identified several trailheads and then went drove up Old NC 105 in the dark to find the Pinnacle Mountain trailhead on Old NC 105 on the west side. Twenty-two days later I would finally find time to drive up after class and climb Pinnacle and get my first shots into the Gorge--and my first limited hike beyond Pinnacle into the Gorge. I would not get anywhere close to Table Rock until I walked up the road (with a locked gate) to the parking lot on February 26 . In between I went five other times to such places as Dogback Mountain, Wiseman's View (overlook), trail on Un-named Trail, Pinch-In Trail, and Lower Rock Jock Trail. I went back one more time on April 15, 2017. I am hoping to get up there again soon. All of the trips except for the Table Rock Parking Lot hike were made on the west side of the Gorge, which continues to enthrall me in its wildness--and relative absence of people. --Lannie Link to comment
