Great capture with an interesting connection between the 2 characters, that's a 6!

First I thought it's a bit a shame that there's someone behind the old man... but in fact it creates an interesting dark background way better than window.

Alain

So many interpretations to this image you presented.

I like the old guy taking a puff of the fag, the girl, out of focus looks like she is blushing, well done story telling   -

First and foremost, congratulations on a well-deserved POTD.

To me, one feature of a strong photographic narrative is not to give away the store, so to speak.  In other words, the story line should not be obvious to the point of making a photograph cliche.  Your image does no such thing.  Although we can't get a clear view of the direction of the man's sight, it seems kind of obvious that he's glancing - perhaps, leering - at the woman.  In return, she appears to have somewhat of a cautious look.  "She I look back at him?  I don't want to give him the wrong idea."

You did an excellent job capturing the facial features of the man.  The detail is so sharp that one can see every nuance.  On the other hand, the woman's face needed no such attention.  Its appearance works quite well in the context of this image.

My best,

michael

One of your best. I particularly like the strong optical focus on the man and defocus on the woman, it accentuates the man's age and draws the viewer to his eye.

Dear Jim, dear friends, I am very happy that this photo is liked. It was made the past year in Trapani, during the Good Friday parade. I was stricken from the strong difference between the skin of the girl and the old man, from her naivety and from his haughtiness, from her simplicity and from his...almost arrogance. Two aspects of the same world, Sicily.
