donpaulson 0 Posted October 17, 2003 This photo was taken a few days ago while visiting Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. I was lucky enough to be there during the first snow fall of the year. The original slide has an overall bluish cast (which gives quite a moody effect). In this case, the Auto Color option in Photoshop produced the colors you see here. I'd sure appreciate your comments or suggestions. Thanks, Don Paulson Link to comment
jos www.inpix.biz 0 Posted October 17, 2003 Very Nice, almost surreal. I wonder if the shot was moved over left about 5 feet to get more of the snowy branches on the left and cropped just right of the bent tree? Link to comment
donpaulson 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Thank you for your comments and suggestions. It's interesting that you should suggest moving the composition over to the left, Vos. I had actually done that very same thing - I took two compositions of this scene; one as you see and one to the left as you suggest. Either composition seems to work, but my preference was for this image. The image to the left included a open portion of sky which seemed to make the scene more open and less mysterious. john_paskey 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Great photo. I had to bump the aesthetics rating down to 6 because of the composition. The subject is great and the composition is good but I don`t like the right side. Tree/Forest compositions are some of the hardest in photography in my opinion so take the previous comment with a grain of salt - it`s still very good. The colors and "whited out" background really give the photo a lot of character and as mentioned in one of the above comments an almost surreal feel to the photo. Great work. Link to comment
donpaulson 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Thanks for your thoughts, John. I agree that compositions in a forest are difficult. I'm in the forest a great deal since I live in the Northwest, and I have always had a hard time finding a good composition. I often spot beautiful scenes, but more often than not I can not compose a decent composition from the scene. Link to comment
