The "but" is what it is all about Sweid ..... this is like a still from a Visconti movie.

I think that many of us have forgotten what it means to portray emotion on the screen, so much today resembles fast food and results in instant gratification ... even courtship has changed from the times when a minimum of sincerity and perseverence was required.

The grain and sombre tone of this image if anything accentuates the feeling of nostalgia for those times past and brings back long distant memories. A truly beautiful moment captured, bravo.

Sometimes these technical flaws work to be expressive and sometimes not. It's a good lesson in when and how technique can influence or harm the passions being put forth. Here, I think it all works together and see what compelled you to take the shot, process it as you did, and show it. While things may go a little too far, especially that black area between her lips keep drawing my attention, the noise, because of the overall darkness and the inward wonder of her facial expression and the overall mood of the photo, just seems part of the feel of the photo. It integrates. This stands in contrast to the technical things I mentioned on the other picture, which has a much lighter, more upbeat feel, and where the technical issues feel more like mistakes to me than modes of expression. I can't help but look at this photo and feel this woman quite deeply and be moved.

...indeed...but still a real, TRUE photo Sweid.

Best wishes for a happy new year full with love, health and creativity.

As far as I can see we are tuned in the same frequency (sometimes at least!), I mean, when the sense of an image is beyond the technical purity. I must recognize that I have a natural trend to push the boundaries excessively, achieving a bad photograph without any value. I hope this is not the case.

By the way: "...even courtship has changed from the times when a minimum of sincerity and perseverance was required..."

Such a sharpened expression!

Thank you very much John.

Once more than I must agree with you. Your comment can be considered as a clear statement about how and when the technical issues can be a contribution to the  artistic mode of expression, or just a bunch of plain mistakes minimizing the quality with a bad result. I must learn a lot yet, especially to take the control on my indulgence about my own works. (please forgive my criminal grammar!)

I'm glad with your visit and your comment Fred.

My friend, I'm flattered with your comment on this humble image product of my wishes more than my skills as an enthusiast photographer. And I wish the same for you and your beloved ones, I hope your dreams become true. Hugs from the South!
