What a great shot! I would love to know more about how the picture was taken!

I love the curve that the wings make in the frame. Also the way the wings are remind me of ancient Egyptian murals.

I think the image would be even more striking if you cropped it so the subject was in the lower left. The contrast of the in focus subject and the out of focus background is good, but the left part of the frame has nothing in it. I would crop the left and a little off the top while leaving the right side alone. This means the curve of the birds wings define the lower left corner of the frame.

Another thing is the uneven lighting of the bird. It looks like the birds head and the lower wing is in shadow. No idea what you can do about it. Possibly the lighting of the bird can be evened out using something like photoshop.

I love this shot. The stuff I see in it are minor quibbles. The DOF perfectly highlights the subject while giving a nice blurred background.
