Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 21, 2016 Large view preferred. How about this for a tough palm? You comments on this detail image are appreciated. Thanks. Larry Link to comment

bruckner 518 Posted December 21, 2016 Well seen and post processed, almost too alien to distinguish what it actually is. Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted December 21, 2016 This stuff is very tough. I remember in Tenerife they made wind breaks from this extremely durable fibrous material. The image quality looks really good with great edge to edge sharpness and detail particularly apparent when viewed larger. Was the image cropped? And could you provide some camera, lens and settings details? Cheers Larry! Alf Link to comment

Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 22, 2016 George, It does look a bit alien. This is a Hawaiian palm growing wild in the forest. The lower trunk had this growth. Thanks for your visit and comment. Best to you and yours for the holidays and New Year. Larry Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 22, 2016 Alf, Thanks for looking at this image. Perhaps the latitude of Hawaii and Tenernife is not that different. This image is not cropped at all. I did quite little to it other than adjust white balance. I shot it in a hurry with my Panasonic LX100 as we were tired after trapping around on the nearby beach. I keep this camera on auto ISO so it has my back. It was shot at f/8 at 1/125 sec at 31.5mm focal length. The auto ISO was 1250. It was in a shaded forest area, hence the high ISO. Other than the f/8 and 1/125 settings the camera did the rest on auto pilot. Amazingly I get little noticeable noise at these high ISOs with this camera. Thanks for your comment. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Larry Link to comment
