I love the open gates that seem to provide an introduction to the very flamboyant character on the steps.  It's a photograph that immediately makes me smile!

Best Regards

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Not much snow here in Osaka although we did have a good dump of the white stuff for a day last year. Alf, if this picture drew a smile from you, I consider it a great success. When I look back through my portfolio, it's the pictures that make me smile that I enjoy the most. ( I do sometimes smile at my own photos and occasionally even laugh out loud.)

Jack,

This creates both curiosity and foreboding. On one hand, is the man's grotesque expression which can be either warning or drawing attention or both.  The open sky, empty horizon and the foreground railings are all strong elements that form the accessories to a drama stage. The main question that haunts us is what is there on the other side. Is he chased by an alien spacecraft, or a bunch of raging buffalos? The empty horizon and lack of distractions makeswhatever is going to happen even more impending.

I think you friend is enjoying 'putting on a show for you'. No matter what kind of shot he thought you wanted, he was sure was 'putting on the Ritz' - or 'Dancing in the Rain' without the rain - the platform (?) that you are on leads us to the steps that he is doing his 'dance routine' on, right out of the Movies - 'Home Movies' that is :) made me smile too!

Thanks for taking the time to come by and leave a comment. There is certainly a feeling of performance and the stage about this one. I don't think this would have worked if I hadn't caught Yukihiro positioned between the sky and the steps. No alien spacecraft, Supriyo, just the Yodo River. Swing a camera lens his way and Yukihiro automatically goes into one of these wild gyrations.

have you been busy lately or is it just that I am too busy dumping my crap into my portfolio and leaving without taking the time to look at the work of my friends?  You're on a hell of an impressive roll, Jack.
