I think this series, IMO, works better in B/W as it not only allows you to present some great tonal ranges, but b/w brings out the grit and grime of these men's daily lives more than any color can. Not to say you are doing the same thing, but I suggest you look at some of Orhan Kose's work here at pnet. I love this particular image best of the series. The man entering the frame brings with him a certain light and urgency. I'm shocked you had enough light to allow you to use a depth of focus that is enough to render everyone in the picture sharply. I agree that B&w suits better the specific mood better but on the other hand the contradiction of bright colors iside such a dark environment seems interesting too.
