I agree - it is brilliant. The cat is not only ready to run but potentially to also pounce on the photographer.

There is something about this image that immediately grabs you, and that is something universal in all great art. On the surface, it looks like a ho hum portrait of two elderly people, the sort of image one takes because "it looks photogenic". But, there is something about this picture, the attitude of the couple, the closeness of their chairs--like they cannot hear each other if they are further apart. The black and white accentuates that similarity by removing distracting color from the scene. This allows you to look closer at their faces, the set of their jaws in the same way, the resigned look on BOTH faces, and the sense of vulnerability that is palpable in their faces, though they both try to present a fortified front. It is an image that is once reassuring that they have both gone a long way together, and at the same time sad because they will not be on that journey together much longer.

Mediterranean's good old habit to seat in front of the house...only the table with coffee and maybe some glass with retsina or ouzo are missing...cat is marvelous acting as a guard dog...everything else Emmanuel elaborate so nicely that nothing could be added...my only concern is that light over the door but what can we do...all in all beautiful picture which brings memories...

All the best!!!

Michail, What are you doing? you scaring the cat and the old couple aren't pleased.  Still there seems to be a poignant momentum in this superb composition.  Great electric shot!

Wow, so much to see in such a simple image.  To me this couple looks a little lost, out of their element, since the urban project to repave their street and replace the old light fixture with a modern, uh, nothing, design.  I agree, they're missing a table but I like the small towels covering the seats.  I remember similar from my childhood when Moms didn't want their chairs soiled.  The cat?  It's just being a cat.  Excellent shot... Super work. they are all three intrigued by your presence but not bothered by it. I would love to see a print of it in exhibition. Best Regards.
