gregverena 342 Posted December 3, 2016 Looks like even the wheels are "homemade" and what a clever, simple, efficient design. Looks like great fun! Link to comment

frigo 4,155 Posted December 7, 2016 Mike,This was in a rather remote village, not used to outside visitors so the boys were very willing to put on a show;of course some candy treats were in order which prompted some extra "show-off"demos.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted December 7, 2016 Gregory and Verena,These are sort of training bikes for the young boys who will outgrow these and go on to build "adult size" units which they will use as work vehicles. The bikes are built from bamboo and wood, wheels are carved wood covered with strips of old car tires, brakes on rear wheels are friction type wood plates linked to the sliding front axel by ropes tensioned by pushing forward.Underside of a full scale unit in enclosed photo.Second photo is of my son road testing one with some grass packing on board. These are used on mountain trails and farmers walk these up the hills to their fields, load the crops and then drive down at sometimes impressive speeds on the narrow trails.I have tried these on and I confirm that one must have some pretty solid seat bones to sustain the no-suspension impacts of the rough surfaces....and some solid nerves to steer the exotic machines...A lot of credit to these farmers who have to pull these up the hill, harvest their crop and then risk the drive down...day after day.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
