alfbailey 1 Posted November 28, 2016 Taken last year but only just got round to processing. The view is looking across a frozen lake (Esthwaite Water) on a very cold February day. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. And oh yes the fog is real this time :) Link to comment

Not Here 93 Posted November 29, 2016 The ice is menacing, the fog dreamlike, your composition spot on and... the sheep don't care, they just keep on eating ;-). Great shot... Mike Link to comment

hstelljes 41 Posted December 1, 2016 Hi Alf, I love the tree line with the soft reflection all shrouded in real fog, not that I minded the inspired fog, regardless they are both fine images my friend.Best Always, Holger Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 4, 2016 In your part of the world, winter may seem to go on forever. The climate where I live is just the opposite, leading me to pray for winter. In a sense, its absence in southern Florida doesn't preclude me from taking in this image, though. Although the soft effect the fog provides enshrouds the entire scene, the detailed cracks in the ice provide both textural and tonal contrast. Even viewing the image in large mode, it seems to me that detail in the rest of the frame is absent altogether. To me, this element together with the near absence of color yields both profound mystery and peacefulness. The image is simply haunting. You never cease to fascinate me and other with changes of pace, like this image. It confirms your mastery across the entire spectrum of landscape work. My best always, michael Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted December 6, 2016 Apologies for my late reply. I am in Scotland at the moment hoping to get a few more winter shots. Many Thanks for your kind words, hopefully more fog to come :) Alf DAVID Thank You! I love foggy misty scene too, they produce such atmosphere.Alf TONY H Thank You! Alf TONY B Many Thanks. There is nothing quite like the stillness and tranquility of a winters day. Alf MIKE Sincere Thanks! The sheep are well equipped to deal with the coldest weather and nothing spoils their appetite. :)Alf PATSY Many Thanks..I like the muted reflection too. Best Regards Alf TOMMY Thank You! I do have another similar shot with reeds at one side of the foreground which I think might work too. Alf MEHMET Thank you for your interest and kind words! Alf HOLGER Thank you so much! When I can't get real fog I have to make my own :) This time I didn't have to, and at the moment I am in Scotland and there is no shortage of it here either! Best Regards my friend! Alf MICHAEL I might be considered odd, but i love winter and the cold foggy days that it brings, so we have "praying for winter" in common.Thank you for your most thoughtful analysis of this image. I do like to change pace, try something different and challenge myself within the realms of landscape photography. But I could never claim to be as diverse and inventive as yourself! GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted December 8, 2016 wow, I can almost feel the chill..........shiver ! There is always a magical kind of mood when you capture an image when it is foggy - this kind of 'chill fog' is even more special. Beautiful - the trees are well positioned within the shot. Nice work Alf. Link to comment

Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 19, 2016 Alf, Beautiful mood here, Alf. If you think this is winter, you need to be here in Minnesota. The temperatures were below zero all day with wind chills in the -20's F. Warm up tomorrow. Terrific image. Larry Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted December 19, 2016 You are quire right I do need to be in Minnesota! I love the winter, the cold crisp air, the foggy days and the icy clear nights. My recent trip to Scotland was disappointing only in one respect, it just wasn't cold enough and not enough snow! :)Thank you so much for your thoughts and kind words Larry!
