biskamp 1 Posted November 18, 2016 To a hongkong visitor one of the remarkable aspects of the city areensembles of, say, five to ten almost identical high rise buildings oftypically 40 stories, densely grouped together Such estates arelocated in many different parts of the city. Most of them are publichousing projects of subsidised apartments for a major part, about 30%,of the population of hongkong. Most of my countrymen would abhorliving in such places considering them as probably degraded with highrates of joblessness and crime. During my last visit to hongkong Ispent some time to find out about the actual living conditions inthese estates My impression is that conditions are in general verygood, with excellent infrastructure concerning public transportation, playgrounds, schools, sportsfields, shopping malls. The social climateis very friendly, people know and assist each other. Population ismixed by origin, many trom mainly china, and age, many young familieswith kids as well as elderly people.. The crime rate is very low andcleanliness exemplary. The following pictures should illustrate myimpressions Link to comment
