As Mr. Obama famously said when the Republicans tried to negotiate with him shortly after his first term election "Elections have consequences, I won."

In this case, the USA won. Hoowah!

Moderators?  I have been a good sport in the face of this fellow's provocation over several days to the point of the ridiculous.

Politics of the left still in compliance with site terms of use?

No surprise!

Sandy,

I think it was a rather flattering portrait. I talked to the gentleman before I snapped and he had no problem with me shooting him (maybe I should say taking his photo rather than shooting him :-)) Likewise, I prefer to be called a progressive rather than a leftist.

Cheers, Jim

If you had the current title originally, I would have had no complaint. Rather sly to change it from offensive to innocuous -- progressive, I suppose.

While politically, I don't find your series offensive- in fact, you have handled it with aplomb and grace, and journalistic skill. Just as a note- the Repubs did not and never did offer to "negotiate "with Obama- Obama wanted to negotiate with them but they refused- all or nothing is not compromise or negotiating.

Another note, Obama won electoral college and large majority (1 to 2 mill ) of popular vote. That is "winning". Clinton now somewhere around 1.5 million ahead in popular vote. Other guy fewer votes than Romney had  and fewer Repub votes overall, than in 2012. So, I guess it would have to be called a "technical" win, certainly not a majority of the country. Unfortunately, there were fewer Dems voting and more for 3rd parties. This is just to set straight some facts. As far as the title- PN members should know that the thumbnail title will be different from the photo page title unless you specifically use the same words. As far as being offended- there are many photos on pn that offend us- mostly of abuse towards women- we chose not to click on them.

Hi Sandy, I think it is wonderful that you won. I just don't understand why you are so angry. Victory should bring contentment to you. We love pn because we get to see other places, admire the skills of photographers, are exposed to different views. We live on a farm and never get to travel, so we really appreciate the diversity of pn. If we don't like something, we don't click on it, very simple. You are totally entitled to your opinion, as well as anybody else. We are all different, different views on politics, religion, marriage, vehicles we buy, food preferences....all this and more make life interesting and worth living. If somebody prefers just ONE way of looking at things, then it is time to join a group of just like-minded people and hope that everything will be fine. That said, I don't know under which of your labels I would fit under.

Sincerely     Verena

1.5 million (1.6 million as of November 19th) amounts to winning the popular vote by 1.3% of the total vote which is hardly a "large majority", as you put it. Furthermore, if 1.3% justifies a win; what about 1%? .5%? .1%? Me might just keep fucking recounting till hell freezes over.

Note also that when Obama won which you alluded to, the losers were not rioting, smashing windows, looting, shooting and burning cars.

Hey Anon Hiding down there under some skirts.

It is 1.7 million tonight. Expect 2 million by the time everything is counted. Twice this century now the candidate with the most votes has lost. Only in America.

Soon Trumps supporters will come to realize that he has no way of delivering on 95% of promises he made. Trump may turn out to be relatively harmless but Bannon and Sessions are true degenerates.  And, Anon, if you want to unload your tickets to Hamilton, I'll give you 10% over face :-)

Just a short addendum- I was going to say, there was no need for protests when Obama was elected, because he brought hope and was a decent person- then I looked it up- actually there were large numbers of violent acts perpetrated against people of color, minorities, etc. Just google " Protests after Obama election 2008".They weren't protesting about his policies, only because he was black. Now, the same attacks on blacks, Jews, Muslims, gays are being done, by the "winners".

I don't want to turn this into a big  political thing, but it is of utmost importance not to let untruths go uncorrected.  G

Meir,

You pose a tough choice with your proposed trade. And yes, in the long history of walls, they all end up failing to perform their intended purposes. Enjoyed the photos you have been posting on your travels in Kansas. I grew up in western Missouri.
