The water sure was flowing fast and wild on this day. It was

wonderful to be there! So exhilarating! My husband helped me

manage the dangerous rocks in order to get close to the where the

Falls meet on the left side. Rocks abruptly go in a different direction

here, resulting into the water crashing into each other - it is a

beautiful sight to see. I've never been here when the water was so

fast. Even the roar of the water was beautiful!

Gail,

A very nice shot.  You selected a great POV.  I would be interested in seeing if you could get a more silky waterfall look by slowing your shutter speed down to maybe 1-second.  This is very nice indeed.

thanks Bill.  Actually - I tried a few - but I am one of these ones who just loves seeing the POWER of the water.  I did not take my tripod with me - I think I would need it to slow these falls down.  I will do more of that kind of shot next year when I visit.  In the Spring it should be good.  I could go out there if I make it soon - the leaves will all be off the trees but that will provide for another interesting shot. Thanks so much for your input Bill.

Thanks so much for dropping by and for your input. I really wanted to get level with the flow of the water.  It is such an amazing,  turbulent falls that it seems a shame to me to try to make the water look too soft - one day I may try it. Glad that you like it as it is.

Very good. I am glad you didn't use long exposure. It has been customary for years now, and for me it has started to become rather boring. I fact, this is more interesting.

I have to agree with Eystein, the more natural looking water as you have captured it allows a greater appreciation of the tremendous power of these falls.  I bet the air was filled with moisture and your ears filled with the sound!

Very well done Gail!

Is natural and as eyes can see, that why we like this your photo,we know too that long exposure has that nice visual effect with smoky water but also unreal. We like to play both and next time you for sure will come with two versions to compare and have an idea.

This is all about the great pov Gail, the warm colors of the trees contrast beautifully with the gray, black and whites of the water. Well seen and presented.

Well, Gail, I think the effort was worth it, because the result is good. I like the angle of shot and the perspective of this image, also the contrast between the colorful trees and the water.
I can almost feel the power and strength of the water here ...

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

Gail, a few years ago you mentioned that you were tired of all the silky water images so this image is a testament to your preference.  The power of that water fascinates me and I could probably watch it all day. Because of that attraction, I see a 2nd shot as a possibility.

At a scene like this, I would probably come away with at least 12 shots.

Thanks so much Tony -  I can see why you did that crop - actually it was one I had thought of - I've got so many shots here - I think it is wonderful when you can get many 'images' out of one - just another POV ! :) Gail
