The whole image has a darkly smudged aura as if it created on smoked glass. One can't help get the feeling that this is an open, pillaged coffin abandoned in the weeds behind a row of old houses like something out of ghoulish horror movie. Though the title says "Sled, Labrador", it reads much differently to me.

Light, toning, everything works here right down to the frame, which keeps the top left corner from bleeding off the image. Subtle touch of an old Master.
