Flashing Lights

Not sure what category to put this in! Drove by this pile of flashing

road construction lights this evening and it was quite and interesting

sight.

Great balance of light, and nice catch.

Okay, you got me, Steve. Generally that's not a lot of mystery in your pictures - or at least not this kind. This one's got me stumped. It captured my attention and interested me enough to type this comment and I'm still no closer to an understanding of what's going on. It's that damn rational half of my mind that's clamoring for an explanation. The right hemisphere is simply enjoying the show.

Jack, here's a shot of the barriers front on, so you can see what they look like.  They are used around street work and such. 

But why were they all on? (or did you sneak up and surreptitiously turn the whole bunch on for your photo?)

The new lights these days are all solar powered.  Hence, they run all night!
