Today it rained. It was not one of those Oregon feathery drizzles that last

as long as that mosquito buzzing in your ear in the dark, which no

amount of swats from your open hand or curses from your muted breathe

could drive away, but which, like a Chihuahua barking merely annoys

without threatening. Nor was it in the form of a torrential rain, the type

that attack with the fury of a boiling kettle, loud, immediate, and

persistently shrill, demanding a sprint across to the kitchen to pluck the

whining beast off the fire, after which silence descends with the same

finality. No, this rain came with the serious mien of a dull headache, an

event you knew would neither kill you nor make you stronger, but which

for as long as it lasted, would not be denied, but which you knew would

eventually dissipate. It lasted a few hours, and swept the sunshine away

and mucked up the day. It trapped us in the house, and we gnashed our

teeth and took it, trying to soothe ourselves with platitudes like "well, we

need the rain", knowing full well that, like going to church, we did not

really believe it would be effective, but it was something we did, because,

well, we did. But, of course, there is something else we do, which no

drizzle, no downpour, no slight precipitation, no showers, and no deluge

could stop, and that is to dream of sunny days, and smiling flowers, and

pleasant winds that waft across our face unfettered and unsullied by any

"moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate

drops."

Well written with pen and light. The flower is a balm for my eyes.

Compared to others, the background is more muted and supports the "Happy Flower" by Emmanuel while  "California Dreaming' by Diana Krall soothes my ears.

Your write up is almost as excellent as your image Emmanuel. I enjoyed reading about your rainy day thoughts and also enjoyed Tonys' response....look at beautiful pictures and listen to music. Good stuff.

"Gods Rain upon the godly and the ungodly"

Not that I am religious, but I thought it a fitting quote to salute your excellent prose!

Beautiful soft gentle light that almost glows!

Very well done!
