I decided to return to that dead tree I found recently and the water color and other conditions were not quite the same and I was really trying to improve on shots taken a few days ago. I brought a short stool to give me more height to avoid the top branches 'touching' the green reflection.

As you can see (based on my previous image) I gave up beautiful water conditions but I got a heron instead. I wish I had the 200- 400mm instead of my 70-300mm lens. Oh well! You use what you have.

Each image has it's own ambiance and this one is superb as well.  The Heron, with his typical, sulky pose, makes the shot (to me)... Mike

Mike - thanks. This was my destination and I shot so many images for about 45 minutes - under-exposing, over-exposing, changing position slightly, waiting for the heron to look less sulky but this is one I chose to share. I will continue looking to see if any others are worth sharing.  I appreciate the visit.

I agree with Mike. You may have given up some things from the previous shot , but you also gained some nice things for this shot. We all work with what we are given at the moment and you have done a great job with this one. Good colors, nice reflection, perhaps more interesting because it is not mirror smooth, well shaped and composed. Plus the bonus heron.

Well done.

Hi Tony, great capture and composition, the Heron, colours and reflections make for a very eye catching image. Best wishes. Sarah.
