robertbrown 1 Posted October 16, 2003 Decaying Salmon: thoughts on composition, lighting appreciated. This is part of a series on salmon habitat. Other photos in this folder and in single photos folder (leaves). Series encompasses flora, fauna, and water. I'll be showing these in a local gallery in early 2004 and I'm still shooting. Thanks. sean_crowe 0 Posted October 16, 2003 The fish automatically caught my eye's attention, but it might be too bright. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 16, 2003 Sean, I agree about the whites. I was shooting at near dark and the whites are too bright for my taste. I may try flashing this in PS, and some reshooting. I spent to evenings shooting dead fish--don't know how much more of that I can take! Link to comment
bob_pictaker 1 Posted October 16, 2003 I'd agree about the highlights. If a reshoot is possible I'd say get back there right away because this shot is worth it. The tones you achieved in the rocks are beautiful, with some more subtle tones in the fish you'll really have something. As for spending more time with dead fish? We have to suffer for our art Bob! :-)) Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 16, 2003 I need to get out there soon or there won't be much left of these! Link to comment
graham_byrnes 0 Posted October 17, 2003 Excellent, the blown out whites are what makes this good: it looks like a fish of mercury running between the rocks. Good example of breaking the rules to good effect. Graham Link to comment
maxhaynes 0 Posted October 18, 2003 I like the whites of the fish. I think I'd prefer it without so obvious darkening around the edge, it mkaes too much of an editorial statement and I think the fish can speak for itself. . .? Link to comment
