Heidi did great for this shoot. I told her to go sit by Winston and

she jumped like this every time I told her to come. Then repeated a

few times and I never had to move. Nothing was dry, so after blowing

on it hard, I had to use my finger to dry off the lens each time.

What a delightful concept for a photo, and you pulled it off so beautifully! Of the two, I think I like the first best because Winston is much easier to understand here; in the second photo, the corner of his face is a momentary puzzle to be solved and so is distracting in a way that he's not in the first. But the feeling of being just about to be landed on by an enthusiastic wet Lab is delightful in both, especially the second. Both photos make me grin!

Leslie, agreed only the one eye of Winston showing kind of ruins that shot. Thank you for all of your words.

Greg and Verena, thank you for your word.:) Seriously, I appreciate it.

Here's another from the shoot....

Another really good one! I love Heidi's ears and the "you've got to be kidding" look on Winston's face. I think I'd still go for the first, though, because it captures more of the feeling that Heidi is jumping out of the frame at us. On the third, Winston is almost as large as Heidi, which makes Heidi seem farther away. Still a fun image, though!

I had the 10-22mm lens in mind the whole time, but I was busy shooting at a different location during the peak morning light the day before, so just did a test run with my 100-400 while standing back. Heck of a jump from a solid sit and from the command, "Heidi, come". I wish all of my dogs throughout my life had been so enthusiastic at coming to me when called.:)

Thanks again, Leslie. I just now noticed your second comment. Glad we're in agreement and I chose the right one to post. Didn't even notice that they were about the same size with the distance. Winston is literally twice her size to begin with.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!  I can't help but think that Winston is wondering when Heidi is going to get in trouble for jumping on you and (I haven't read all your comments) how did you keep your gear dry?  This is really good stuff... Mike

Thanks guys.

Mike - Haha. Haven't heard that word in awhile. I didn't keep my gear dry. Nothing got submerged, just kept wet from splashes. Blew hard on the lens and tried wiping the rest off with my finger after every burst of shots. The whole time wondering why I never bought a UV filter for that lens.
