It's interesting how details on the tree, and the shadow in the street, could correspond to body features.  If I squint at it, it looks more human and three-dimensional than just a plain shadow.

Yeah, I think you're on to some thing there, Mark. The tree imparted some of it's treeness to the shadow, I think giving it a more textured effect that perhaps sparks the imagination.

Mark is absolutely correct.  The effect the shadow has on the entire frame is significant, and is a serious contributor to my wishing that I could also live, at least part of the time, on the tree.

Dearest Jack: Most unusual "portrait". This note is mainly for nostalgic reasons. As you know, I have been purposefully absent from PN. Nonetheless, it is with this projected figure that I wanted to be in touch with, so I chose this from your many wonderful and psychologically piercing, taunting images, always a challenge to the photographer and to the mind. So: Hello dear friend. A very special image indeed. Out of the ordinary. This is more than photography. I beg you to read between the lines. This is so insightful that it goes way beyond photography. I guess you use the vehicle to write in an other language, one that comes across loud and clear. This is my brief peek at PN just to have the excuse to send you a very personal "hello" and a handshake, distant friend. Your photography never ceases to amaze, impeach and challenge. A gift to us all! Thanks indeed.
