The Dune Keeper

the laid-back guard may soon be consumed by the sand dune, aka the silent giant amoeba encroaching on everything on its path.

There's a story everywhere you look! Love the singly-clouded blue sky. The whole photo is nice and crisp. And you even managed a cone.

I like how the cones serve as sentries.  The parallel of the uppermost part of the gate and cloud work to keep the viewer's eye from floating away.  I like how you've kept the strong vertical of the building on the right, serving as a nice framing element.

The encroaching pile appears to pose an imminent danger of overrunning the shoring (I wonder how earthquake-proof the situation is).  The humor lies in the oblivious and relaxed pose of the man.  In that way it's similar to group portraits of firefighters standing in front of a burning building, but in your photo the portrait does not seem to be intended or posed.

And those cones, as Fred pointed out, and also your anthropomorphic trash bins!

Hmmm....the guard and the two young trash cans, staring off into the distance, daydreaming...I wonder if maybe they haven't noticed the slow approach of the Sand Glob? I'm hearing suspenseful music...seeing the glacier of sand inching forward...

That wall looks solid, but I am wondering what typhoon rains could do with that pile of dirt.
