Another shot taken at Peterborough Lift Locks. I don't know what the

Pink Tube is - seemed to be covering a Pipe. I tried to take it out of

the image with no avail. I decided to leave it in and am hoping not

too many will find it draws their eyes very much. It doesn't for me -

that is what was there when I took the shot - but the way we view

images is what makes us individuals :)

Looks like your stretching out a bit in your photography, Gail. I like this composition; it highlights the geometric features of the structure and kind of reminds me of some of Michael Linder's abstract compositions but without the PS manipulation. Same effect, though. Glad you decided to leave the pink pipe in.

Thanks Jack.  I did crop it at the bottom some. Because I was using my 200mm, close up shots were very difficult.  Part of the cement walkway that I was standing on was blurred in the foreground and it truly didn't do anything for the image.  I am trying to expand my horizons so to speak, can't keep taking pics of flowers and bugs forever!!!  But while I was there I was thinking of you and your shots and I searched and searched for something unusual either on the ground or a wall that would interest you - but didn't quite find it - maybe next time!! Thanks so much for your visit and thoughts shared.  I did no alter this re what you see - I found the reflection as I got farther down in the image to be really interesting. I had to make myself follow the water line to really tell where it started etc. So much to see when you take apart the many views of the Lock.

Thanks so much - was not sure - but it is part of the 'scene'. Mind you I figure if I ever printed it as an Abstract - I would maybe try to do something about it - not sure.

Ha. Not like anything I would expect to see in your work. And I like it. It reminds me a lot of Jack McRitchie's images, and coming from me, that is a compliment.

More of this Gail please! So much to keep my interest. Lots of abstract areas to explore and enjoy. As for the pink pipe.....I think it serves to bring out the other colours in the image and there are lots in small amounts. The pink accentuates the green weed and algal growth on the concrete and the floating litter. So for me the pink is an essential element to this as a colour image.

Maybe the bottom third is a lttle bright, loosing the saturation of the pink pipe. I also like the image rotated 90 either way. What do you think?

Regards

Tony

I must have missed this one....but I am now totally in awe of the abstract effect, the slight movement in the reflections and the diagonal direction of the pipe and concrete really contrive to make this more of a lesson on shapes, textures and colours and less of just more ordinary reflections.

Very well done Gail

:) I do enjoy Jack's images :) Not sure that I can compare - but it was the first time I took images at our locks and I've been trying to expand my range of 'pov'.  Thank you so much for your thoughts shared Emmaneul!
