Leslie Reid 5,214 Posted September 18, 2016 Great colors, and they work so beautifully with the reflections. I also really like the point of view--you must have taken this from about 18 inches above the sand? What that point of view does for the placement of the gull really contributes strongly to my favorite aspect of the photo--my eyes follow the pier out to the end, and suddenly I'm back to to the foreground gull, where the pier led me. That sudden leap in my focus of attention--from disappearing off into the horizon to suddenly being on the beach again--gives me kind of an Escher feeling. That's also a beautiful texture in the near foreground. Link to comment
tm_j 30 Posted September 18, 2016 Thanks Leslie! Yes, my camera angle was very low intentionally and that's one of the thing about shooting with Sony mirrorless camera with a tilted LCD that I love. Glad to hear from you, greetings from SoCal! :-) Link to comment
DavidTriplett 12,682 Posted September 18, 2016 Tm, as a former Orange County boy, this really takes me back to my youth. I can just feel the sun rising over Saddleback Mtn, and casting soft, morning light through the pilings under the pier. You have perfectly captured the mood and feelings of my memories for this place. Technically, the composition is excellent, as stated by Leslie. The reflection of the sky and clouds in the water is perfect. Very well done, and thanks for the memories. (Now I'm pining for some "salt water therapy".) Link to comment
tm_j 30 Posted September 18, 2016 LOL, thanks David! I love the Dora Fleet market and come now and then ... as you already know .. it's heaven! or at least it is to me. :-) Link to comment
Tony Brandstetter 814 Posted September 18, 2016 Nice low angle shot Tim, it brings out the super nice reflection. The pier leading our eyes to the back of the image is great and the inclusion of the gull as the focal pint, well done - Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted September 18, 2016 The bird guru strikes again. The lone seagull makes the scene for me. Nice pastel colors that relax and make me want to be there. Good stuff... Mike Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted September 18, 2016 I agree with the many others that appreciate your POV in this shot. Beautiful reflections that 'we can almost taste'. When viewed larger it is certainly impressive Tm - Congrats!!! Link to comment
