In general your recent efforts with a very narrow DOF, often highlighting an object in the middle ground don't quite work for me. However, I to say I'm quite impressed by this one that has a feeling of depth and dimension that is almost startling.

The contrast between the stark grey rock and the delicate and colourful flowers make for a most appealing image.  The shallow DOF in this case tends to draw the eye to the sharper section of the image which sseems to work well!
