I still like it Landrum! The high ISO gave it a textured background. Not always the best thing but here it looks artistic!

Thank you, Robert.  You're very kind.  At least he flew into the "target zone" where I had the camera already pointed and focused.

I can understand why you raised the ISO Lannie - but as you found out and as I have - we get a lot of Camera Color Noise.  Instead, sometimes I keep my ISO at a low setting and instead Raise my Exposure Compensation - it has helped save a few shots - I have always used a Rebel and change it using my Q Button on the back right of the camera (using up/down/across arrows to select Exposure Compensation(or ISO, Aperture etc).  Mind you - these birds are fast - I imagine you know your Quick Mode and you'd still have to be pretty fast to get EC changed and still get this beautiful image.  Noise Removal Programs can help but they often reduce the detail - the background almost looks like a Texture!  still I'm glad you went for the shot!!! :)

Thanks for the tips, Gail.  I see that you can spot all my errors.  I'm trying to learn something new, and bird photography is definitely not easy!

Yeah, I went the other way on the exposure compensation.  Live and learn.  Need to look at that Q button again--this camera had lain dormant for a few years, before I saw this lens for sale on eBay.

Jack, I would swap them all for one rhinoceros beetle making his way up and over the canyon between the paving stones--a little drama down in Macro World.
