Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 11, 2016 Shot using a 25mm extension tube between the EF 300mm f/4 L IS and aCanon Digital Rebel T2i. I'm testing this rig for macro potential atabout four to eight feet. Comments welcome. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 11, 2016 I also forgot to turn down the ISO from 6400, the setting I had been using outside not long after sunset--so there is some unnecessary grain, not to mention some blown highlights. This was shot from about four feet away, hand-held. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 11, 2016 I said above that "I'm testing this rig for macro potential at about four to eight feet." That is the range that I am most interested in. Focus with the extension tube in place can (for the record) be achieved from under four feet to approximately fifteen feet, perhaps a bit more. Removal of the extension tube quickly restores infinity focus with a minimum focal distance somewhat greater than with the extension tube in place. For my purposes, precise measurements were not necessary. I can imagine possible scenarios in which the precise limits of focal range could conceivably be useful. I don't know who could possibly be interested in this very soft technical information, but here it is. --Lannie Link to comment
