Leonard-just-Leonard 8 Posted September 10, 2016 this bird seemed quite irate. the two of them probably have a nest beside where I park my car at work. Link to comment

Leslie Reid 5,201 Posted September 10, 2016 I love the bird's expression of indignation--you've caught a great instant here. I also really like the color combination--the blues of the spruce foliage and sky work beautifully with the soft grays of the feathers, and those colors are set off perfectly by the warm hues of the spruce cones, branches, and front feathers. I'm also impressed by the cropping--I ordinarily wouldn't have expected this framing to work, I guess because I'm so used to seeing photos of the whole bird, and because the center of interest is way up there in the upper right corner. But this one works really nicely--probably in part because of the well-placed foreground foliage, and in part because of the placement of the spruce cones--they're strong enough because of the color to keep my gaze traveling around the photo rather than just parking on the face. You've also done a nice job with the depth of field here in a situation where it could have been really difficult to handle, and I wonder if upping the clarity of the closest central spruce twig with an adjustment brush (if you use Lightroom) might subtly sharpen it just a bit more.
