And once again, I'm grabbed by an image because of the power of the composition and the freshness of the concept, then read the title and laugh, and then discover it's yours. I love the way you see, Jack!

...out of seemingly nothing again!!!

Maybe the whites are a bit too bright i think Jack, but i have to check it from a calibrated screen to be sure.

Michail's suggestion got me thinking, and I started getting very curious about what would happen if you were to go in the opposite direction and completely blow out the whites--it'd leave a very inexplicable structure made entirely of grass that could be quite intriguing, but it would lose a lot of the endearing connection to reality that pulling the whites back in would support...Like I said, curiosity...

Good thought. Right now it's sitting between two chairs, neither fish no fowl. Of course it's no big thing and I've got a million other photos to get to but it has whetted my curiosity so I may just give it a try. I've always liked what Garry Winogrand said when asked why he photographed something. He said he liked to see what it looked like as a photo.

Jack, although I certainly endorse Leslie's take on this image, I have another one.  I envision you flying over this area in a helicopter during winter.  Seeing these greenbelts in the distance, you ask the pilot to hover for a while while you took several shots of the area.  It's amazing how you captured traces of dirt in the snow.

Thanks for your alternate take on this picture. I had never looked at it in that way until you mentioned it; it's a fresh view and a new neural connection for which I'm grateful.

For me I see the unique pattern of the grass strips between what appear to be white-washed patio stones.  I HATE CRABGRASS !!! It has almost destroyed parts of our front lawn and has my husband working feverishly trying to restore the lawn he enjoyed so much taking care of (he has started to enjoy gardening these last few years - he cuts out the weeds rather than Herbicide) But here - I love your Crabgrass - it offers an alternate texture in this 'grass garden'. I am imagining it is part of a design to a Maze or Elizabethan Garden :)  The Title makes total sense.

BTW - I was on the new site - till I got so frustrated I gave up.  I logged on many times - tried to change my Avatar Photo - I disliked how the Comments were placed with no view of the image (I think).  I am not on Social Media so this 'heart or like ' a photo does nothing for me - seems pointless. I'm so confused now - not sure if there was a Heart.  Categories went missing - so Photos that I had listed under Digital Alteration or even Insect were gone - my info entered on Tech Details was gone.  I realize it takes a long time to develop a new Photo Site.  I can't even imagine what goes into it's design.  But I felt like I was actually LOST IN A MAZE - and had no idea where to go.  So yes, if you were unhappy with the site this way - you probably are now a bit relieved that you are no longer treading water and sinking slowly on the other site.  I hope they can resolve the issues that I saw mentioned on one blog - so many.  Well at least we are all back in the Village - and I no longer feel like a 'village idiot'!! :)

Thanks for the comments on this picture and the other one. The mental image of you covered in yams is almost too bizarre to bear.. This strip of crabgrass is right across the street from my apartment. They tore down a lovely old brick house (Mr.s Ueda's place, her image is enshrined somewhere in these pages) and replaced it with a ticky-tacky duplex made out of Leggo blocks, I think. This little design feature is right in the middle of the driveway where the owner parks his car. I swear I live in a constant state of wonderment. Who knows the thinking behind anything nowadays.

As for PS 2, it got awfully crowded in the lifeboats until they allowed us back on this creaky old hulk that actually seems to carry us reasonably well. There are some of us that want to make our voices heard in the redesign and re-introduction of PN 2.1. Management certainly got their fingers burnt with the monstrosity they foisted on us last time. We will see if lessons have been learned. More later.
