Widgeon's in flight

These widgeon's fly extremely fast in formation. I had tried taking

pictures of them with my D 750 but that has the fastest shutter speed

of 1/4000 and they were always blurred. I finally took this image

with my D 800 E at 1/8000 of a second and it is quite sharp. This was

taken on a partly cloudy evening where the background was in the

clouds and the birds were catching the late afternoon sun.

Can't tell for certain because of the bokeh, but it looks as if you caught these guys without panning, frozen and sharp.  Pretty amazing, and a fine dramatic image!

This is an impressive capture David.  You have only to view the larger image to verify the fact.  Excellent work. 

This is an example of what state of the art equipment can do. No sign of blur anywhere. It is amazing that you could expose at 1/8000 sec at such long focal length on a cloudy day.

A very nice capture of these birds in flight, three is the perfect number (I would have flip the image horizontally, the human eye is accustomed to reading from left to right, in this direction we follow better the movement), ciao Giangiorgio
