Always love to see things from your perspective and imagine myself suddenly in that environment. A good representation of the life style of these people. I like the small areas of color which enliven the scene.

I know that I am so spoiled and so thankful for the amenities that I have - I cannot imagine the people living here Jim. Does the water normally get really high??? it is an excellent image. Good color clarity and detail - a world so far away from anything I know - is there bridges or stairs to some area that is dry Jim?

Gail,

The whole village is built on a tidal basin. Even further inland they have built boardwalks that look similar to the pier shown in the lower left. Hard to imagine living in these conditions but most of the people seemed happy - perhaps a higher percentage than in our own society.

Hi Jim,

I thought about that.  I figured that the people would be used to life 'as they know it' and would not know any different. They have adapted to their surroundings and weather conditions and know how to survive within them.  If I had looked at more of the images in this folder I would have realized that.  I think Society and all it's trappings, as least Modern, in North America - many live lives where they are spoiled by excess - or feel 'entitled' - are disappointed more easily because they are bombarded by so much 'information' and we are basically told we 'can't survive' without the new technologies - always yearning for more and never satisfied.  I am sure you have seen people all over the world living in simpler circumstances - and even if impoverished - if it is all they know - they are capable of finding some happiness within that life.  Thanks for letting me know Jim :) I will be back to this amazing folder soon, :) gail

Gail,

Good insights. The problem that I've observed since first, the introduction of VCRs, and now, cell phones with internet access, is that people in remote regions see how we live and are rapidly changing their expectations and abandoning their old tribal behaviours. Jim
