In my travels over the last 40 years I've noticed the effects of American junk

food, particularly Frito-Lay like products, Coke & Pepsi drinks, & McDonald's

on the local population. When I first started traveling, I rarely saw a fat kid in

Mexico, SE Asia or China. Now they are all over just like here. In this photo

we see Asmat tribal kids who live in one of the least accessible and least

visited areas of the world (the Indonesian half of New Guinea) becoming

two fisted junk food consumers. She may well be wearing a 3XL moo-moo

from Lane Bryant by the time she is an adult. In nearby Boulder, CO there is

a measure on the ballot this year that will impose a tax on sugary drinks.

Coke and others are pouring thousands of $'s into Boulder to defeat the

measure.
