Reached the effect of aged of the photo across the alteration of the color. The light centred on the beard gives force to the portrait.

Ok, your title got me.  A Bing search only finds a Charles Boggs that was Captain of a Union gunboat.  A superbly aged image and period character... Mike

Tony this really hits the mark. I will swear you found this photo somewhere in an attic in a house that's 200 years old......but I know you better than that;-) Great work.

Best, Holger

You really captured the vintage look of the lone pioneer off on his quest. This guy could fit in just about any period and be recognized for who and what he is.. I do think the transition from lighter central area to the darker sepia around the border could have been done a little more gradually but all in all it's a great picture.

this processing really worked well for this image - I'm thinking this man is from the past but may not be Boggs - so many men with beards back then - the kicker might be the sharp nose.
