michaellinder 16,612 Posted July 27, 2016 I tried to give this photograph a film noir feel. Can you please provide constructive feedback on whether I was successful? Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 27, 2016 The processing is pretty good, just a bit on the muddy side but the subject, especially the gentleman with the cigar is exceptional. He's an iconic figure right out of the Edward Hopper school of characters, mostly on account of his feeling of just being there and his tense posture, as rigid as a cigar store Indian. Ken Ratcliffe 103,726 Posted July 28, 2016 Hi. Yes agree with Jack, the subjects are great and you've added a film "feel" to this with the processing. For my tastes it's just a little over processed, makes me feel I want to wipe the dust off it. That said this is very good and I can see why you've given it the film treatment. The composition, light and B&W finish all work so well. Best regards Ken. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 29, 2017 It's quite dark and foreboding. The figure on the left seems to have no particular reason to be out there. I don't see him as sinister, just a bit vacuous. Going outside for a smoke is different in New York, I guess--then again, what is the reason people go outside to smoke anywhere?I do like it very much. I think that the processing is effective.Lannie Link to comment
