One of the most impressionable concepts on me, as I tried to teach

myself to paint, was this notion of “lost and found edges” –- blurring

or eliminating the lines (conceptual space) that aid distinction of

one thing or object from another. Artists accomplish this by making

objects share hues or tonal value or making the hues and tonal value

of an object bleed into those of another. When merged, separate and

distinct things/objects become something different, and often new and

interesting. Comments and critique appreciated.

I too enjoy making paintings from some images and Europe lends itself beautifully to this effort.  In this image, the viewer's eye is nicely drawn to the light at the back as the buildings offer leading lines through the photo.  The car in the left front is rather bright and is trapping my travel through the image.  I wonder if toning it down would strengthen the viewer's visual journey through an otherwise lovely composition.

Thanks, Lynne.  Exactly my thoughts on the foreground car.  Lazy processing and my part - I rationalized leaving as is would add that hint of reality to the scene.

Wonderful work Wayne:  great tones and a hint of reality create a very telling image. Very well done. Rgds. Rick

Patsy and Rick,

Many thanks. Just what I was going for - a hint of the real within a painter's symbolic reality.

I like this series of painted pictures. This one in particular is very interesting. Do not know how you did ... but I like the result!

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

Rosario,

Many thanks.  I am adjusting images in primarily Topaz simplify and Topaz impression to arrive at painterly effects.
