Leslie Reid 5,214 Posted July 7, 2016 I just commented on the other view you've posted. I like this one a lot too, and am especially enjoying the glimpse of blue sky and the drama of the silhouetted branches. Once again, the colors work very well here. This image seems to me more energetic and less peaceful than your other image--could be because of the horizontal branches, strong greens, blue sky, and generally cooler hues. I'm trying to figure out why this one seems less complete to me than the other, and I wonder if it might simply be because the top of the frame cuts into the beautifully arched branch to the right of top center. Is there enough headroom in the original to lift the crop slightly? Anyway, this is another very beautiful image, and it's giving me another reason to visit Portland (as though Powell's weren't enough). Link to comment
tm_j 30 Posted July 7, 2016 Thank you very much for your detailed comment Leslie, I appreciate that very much! This trip is our 2nd trip to Portland (previous one was 3 years ago) and I can see more coming in the future. I passed by this iconic tree in the Japanese Garden on our first trip and happen to notice it this time by going around the garden quite a few times :-) Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 567 Posted July 11, 2016 You picked a magnificent tree and gave it justice. Great work. Link to comment
