This was a perfect choice to apply the mirror symmetry to--the gradations in tone, hue, saturation, size, and angle lead very effectively to the central "finale," and the fact that the framing triangles are so beautifully and unexpectedly mirrored vertically as a negative of one another is masterful--that makes the contrasting tone and texture of the top portion of the frame an integral and critical part of the overall image; without that, the top would have seemed out of place. If I were experimenting, I might try adding a subtle hue and saturation gradient at the top corners to see if it adds a bit more visual interest to the top portion, but it really doesn't need it, and it might detract from the overall power of the image.
