The sunsets over Church Bay were very Idyllic for a few nights, so I decided to try a

long exposure. I reduced the whites in processing and this seemed to accentuate the

colour. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated! Thank You

Your 30 second exposure and your low ISO produced an almost surreal photo. Smooth and tranquil. Minimalistic and apart for the very few details all one can see and feel is the light.

Well done once more, my friend.

wonderful colours, beautifully reflected in the wet sand and you know I'm a sucker for a long exposure.

Something a little different but none the less beautiful.  Something new for me to try (long exposure of sunset).  Love the beautiful colors (even blue/orange complementary).  Nice sky too.  The foreground came out especially well with the wet sand and two stones helping lead us into the image.

Great work as usual, Alf.

Cheers...

Alf,  The colors here are most striking.  I am just reading Bruce Barnbaum's book The Essence of Photography which emphasizes seeing images artistically with emotion and feeling.  This image is a perfect example.  You did not see the water as smooth as you created it, but it was your vision and knowledge of how to technically deliver your vision that makes the image.  The book is worth a look.   Larry

I'm not sure whether to make a comment or just sit and enjoy.  Deceptively simple at first, an examination reveals plenty of detail, depth and fine color.  Good stuff… Mike

Hi Alf, I agree with Mike and Larry, a closer look reveals lovely details, but here the colors steal the show. A view of mothers natures finest work and you've captured it so very well my friend.

Best Always, Holger

There is much more colour than my usual offerings, but on this occasion it was accentuated by the long exposure. The foreground was softened somewhat by the wave movement, and I reduced the highlights and whites in processing, it seems to work though : - )

Sincere Thanks my friend!

It was on of those fairy tale sunsets that I couldn't resist either : - )

It can be a bit tricky when the sun is still above the horizon, but once the harsh light dips below, you can have great fun with a few filters and long exposures, particularly when there is some clouds and colour in the sky!

Sincere  Thanks Jerry!

Thank you so much!  It was interesting because minutes previously the sun was too bright and I did blow the highlights, and that was despite using ND grads. But once the sun disappeared it became a lot easier to control.

It sounds like an interesting book and kind of echo's my sentiments to some degree.

We as photographers seem to get very much caught up in the technicalities of the equipment and the techniques we employ, rather than simply enjoying the results and how they make us feel.

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and comments, they really are appreciated!

I was tempted to do just that too, I was talking to some other people that were asking about my photo's and I could see the glorious sunset materialising,  so I wrenched myself away and took a few shots : - )

Many Thanks Mike!

I agree, the colours are  what draws the viewers eye and they are certainly what drew my eye. There wasn't much in the way of foreground interest. I would normally aim to include some rocks, but on this occasion, the further back up the beach I walked, the more bits of scruffy seaweed was to be encountered : - )

Many Thanks Holger!

Nature's art, as seen through your eye and through your camera's lens.  If one looks hard enough, there's enough brilliant color to last a lifetime.

My best,

Sincere Thanks for your interest and positive feedback!

A bit more colour than I would usually allow, but it was quite a glorious sunset!

MICHAEL

Many Thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

I found that by reducing the highlights and the whites in the RAW file, it allowed the colours to really show through. I also increased the saturation and vibrance slightly.

Many Thanks! I know what you mean, that little stone kind of brings you back to reality from the surreal surroundings.
